Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, shared in an exclusive interview that the company has been developing people-oriented and well-designed premium projects in the Chinese Mainland. “We always had strong confidence in the Chinese economy. It is for this reason that we entered the mainland market with a firm commitment and a long-term focus. More than simply build-and-sell properties, we wanted to have a deeper connection with local people through a long-term placemaking strategy, and contribute more to the regeneration of mainland cities and the communities where our projects are located," Blackburn said.

With China is focusing on expanding domestic demand, recent policies have undoubtedly provide broader development opportunities for Swire Properties. Local governments have provided strong support for the Company's business development and the two sides have built a high level of mutual trust over a long period of interaction and cooperation.

Despite the impact of the epidemic, Swire Properties remains confident about the medium and long-term outlook for the mainland market. Blackburn emphasised that Swire Properties maintains a long-term view of its business development and never changes its philosophy simply because of temporary fluctuations. As a testimony to this confidence, the Company announced major investments in Xi'an and Sanya in 2022.
