The media widely reported Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan's written reply to an enquiry by lawmaker Michael Tien, which revealed more details of the lease of a unit at One Pacific Place as the Former Chief Executive's Office.

According to the information revealed, the said office spans 2,874 sq ft of space at One Pacific Place, with a lease term of three years at a monthly rent of HKD377,000. Chan rejected accusations that the lease was unreasonable, noting that Pacific Place meets former Chief Executive Carrie Lam's operational requirements, including the location, transport, facilitation for meeting people from different sectors, security arrangements, and requirements for receiving visiting guests. He also stressed that the rent is comparable with the market level. The lease came as the first Former Chief Executive's Office on Kennedy Road is fully occupied by former city leaders.
