To encourage book recycling and sharing, the Swire Properties Community Ambassador programme, Agency for Volunteer Service and The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong began hosting the "Books for Love @ $10" charity book sale in 2009. With Swire Properties' sponsorship, second-hand books collected from a citywide book drive are sorted and processed by volunteers before they are put for charity sale to the public.

May Lam-Kobayashi, Deputy Director, Public Affairs of Swire Properties, shared that it was a pity numerous books were wasted simply because of the lack of public acceptance towards second-hand books. This triggered the creation of "Books for Love @ $10" ten years ago to collect, recycle and reuse books, as well as to promote environmental protection. She noted that throughout the past decade, over HKD4 million of donation had been made from the annual charity book sale. Lam-Kobayashi also shared that new elements are incorporated each year to ensure the initiative will keep abreast of the times – with an online bookstore being launched for the first time this year.

The "Books for Love @ $10" in-person charity book sale will be held from noon to 8pm, from 25 June to 3 July 2022 at Taikoo Place. A total of 300,000 books will be available for sale at HKD10 each. Now in its tenth year, the programme is launching a special "Buy 10 for 11" offer.
