White Christmas Street Fair kicks off

Swire Properties’ annual year-end community event White Christmas Street Fair 2022 officially kicked off yesterday.

This year’s Street Fair is themed “Bloom & Beyond”, and is designed and organised by eight students from the Swire Properties Placemaking Academy (SPPA). Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, said that the White Christmas Street Fair is even more special this year as the Company is celebrating both Christmas and its 50th Anniversary. Echoing the "Bloom & Beyond" theme, and recognising their commitment to empowering the next generation, the Company’s decades-long placemaking efforts have "blossomed". He added that the Company is excited to develop quality communities and support future generations in the next 50 years.

This year’s Street Fair continues to strive to become a zero-waste event. The SPPA team had worked with designers and vendors to source materials with upcycling and recycling in mind. One of the highlights of this year’s event is the 5,000 “Re-poinsettias” made from old fabrics from recycled Cathay Pacific cabin crew uniforms and bedsheets from Swire Hotels.

Running until 4 December 2022 at Taikoo Place, the Street Fair offers three life-sized attractions for festive photo opportunities, 29 handpicked shopping booths, Christmas-themed handicraft workshops, live performances and entertainment. The Street Fair will support and raise funds for Operation Santa Claus, a charity campaign that drives and leads the spirit of giving to brighten Hong Kong’s community.
