Swire Properties and tenants cooperate in improving carbon footprint

Swire Properties is working closely with its tenants through its "Green Performance Pledge" initiative that covers the entire tenancy cycle in the areas of office fit-out and operations to help improve carbon footprint and energy efficiency.

Various tenants have been putting an effort to sustainable development. For instance, APG Investments Asia, a tenant at Three Pacific Place, has managed to reduce carbon emissions in its new office by 10% on an annual basis compared to its previous premises in Central. Meanwhile, JLL has installed a smart power metre system at its office in One Taikoo Place as part of the scheme, monitoring energy use in different zones and appliance categories. It has managed to reduce energy use by 9.3% in its social hub and work café areas between October 2021 and June 2022.

In addition, Swire Properties has developed a smart waste reduction pilot programme for its tenants in partnership with Spare-It. Smart scales were fitted under rubbish bins to collect live waste disposal and recycling data in offices, and display screens were set up to showcase the waste reduction progress of participating teams. The seven-month challenge involving 15 teams from seven office towers managed by the Company, resulting in a 14% reduction in waste per employee and a 41% diversion of total waste by weight from landfills.
