Swire Properties, Deloitte set up urban farm at Pacific Place

Swire Properties has partnered with its anchor tenant at Pacific Place, Deloitte, to set up the Company's fifth rooftop urban farm at One Pacific Place. Around 28 types of crops will grow at The Loop at One Pacific Place with the help of Rooftop Republic. Food waste from Deloitte's offices will be collected daily and repurposed into compost, thereby reducing food waste by as much as 90%.

Swire Properties will be inviting its tenants to participate in Christmas harvesting from the rooftop farms under the Company's portfolio. The produce will be available at the Star Street Market pop-up for the wider community to purchase. All proceeds from charity sales at the pop-up and harvested crops will be donated to Feeding Hong Kong.

Mark Celenk, General Manager, Pacific Place, said he hopes the latest initiatives around The Loop will bring tenants together and create a lively working space, which is a demonstration of the Company's creative transformation philosophy over the past 50 years. Separately, Celenk also noted that retail sales of Pacific Place in the third quarter have improved, thanks to the launch of the Consumption Voucher Scheme. He also noted that the occupancy of Pacific Place offices has reached 97%, which is in line with the overall occupancy rate of the Company's office portfolios. He expects the office market to remain challenging owing to macroeconomic factors and increased supply, but the Company will strive to maintain its robust occupancy rates with its continuous SD efforts.
