Swire Properties' energy efficiency efforts make for a green building case study

Swire Properties' investment in sustainable development and renewable energy was featured in an episode of the RTHK news documentary series "Hong Kong Connection". With the Government's announcement of Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050, the episode looks at Hong Kong's decarbonisation pathway and energy efficiency solutions, highlighting the Company'sSwire Properties' energy efficiency efforts.

Raymond Yau, General Manager, Technical Services & Sustainable Development, Swire Properties, said that many international companies have set sustainable development policies and will consider if their landlords have similar, complementary green policies in place. He pointed out that while the relevant sustainable development and energy efficient features would incur higher one-off costs, such investments will reduce operating costs in the long run.

Meanwhile Patrick Ho, Senior Sustainable Development Manager, Swire Properties, talked through the green features of One Taikoo Place, including the innovative dual-level roof fitted with a combined green roof and solar PV system; the waste-to-energy biodiesel tri-generation and absorption system that combines heating, cooling and power generation; and the cloud-based smart energy management platform.
