In 2021, Swire Properties set new science-based targets (SBTs) to help limit the global temperature rise to 1.5°C while several other Hong Kong property developers also made efforts to introduce environmental, social and corporate governance initiatives. The Company's new SBTs include measures to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from its operations from 2019 levels by 25% in 2025 and 46% in 2030. In July 2021, Swire Properties also partnered with Spare-it, a Boston-based clean technology start-up, to launch the "Smart Waste Reduction Programme" among its staff and tenants in its office buildings.
