Swire Properties is capitalising on the potential of the Greater Bay Area and has successfully completed a shopping centre, two office towers and a hotel in Guangzhou. These developments have a combined gross floor area amounting to 351,387 sqm. The Company is also planning to expand its footprint in Shenzhen. Chief Executive Tim Blackburn said the Company continues to have a strong interest in expanding its presence in the Bay Area, building on the successful ventures in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Swire Properties aims to double its real estate assets, measured in terms of gross floor area, in the Chinese Mainland by 2032.

In 2019, the Company set up an office in Shenzhen’s Futian district with the aim of exploring development opportunities in the technology hub of the Chinese Mainland and other Bay Area cities. Discussions are underway with the Futian District to develop a commercial landmark, while a luxury hotel in the city’s Nanshan District is expected to open in 2025.
