The flagship Tokyu Department Store in Tokyo’s Shibuya district closed its doors on 31 January 2023 after 55 years, paving the way for the redevelopment of the site into a 36-storey mixed-use project. The real estate project is developed by Tokyu Corp, Tokyu Department Store and L Catterton Real Estate, and is scheduled for completion in 2027. Swire Properties will open a luxury hotel on site under The House Collective brand, marking the first "House" outside the Chinese Mainland.
