Swire Properties Placemaking Academy (SPPA) welcomed 10 students from City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Metropolitan University. These students were selected from an open competition to design, plan and execute White Christmas Street Fair 2023. Over the summer holiday, they attended masterclasses and mentorship sessions under the theme "Play, Level-Up and Shine". These sessions covered a broad range of topics to equip the students with the knowledge and skills to generate ideas and successfully organise the Street Fair in December 2023.

In addition, seven secondary school students have been selected to join the Placemaking Academy Junior Programme, a new extension to the SPPA. They will help create a digital platform and original music for the Street Fair. May Lam Kobayashi, Deputy Director, Public Affairs, explained that the goal of this initiative is to inspire young people at an early age to develop new skills and to instil in them the SPPA spirit of community building.

Echoing the Company’s commitment to sustainable development, this year’s Christmas Street Fair will work towards becoming a zero-waste event through various measures such as cutlery rental. The team aims to surpass last year’s waste reduction achievement of 23%. s
