Swire Properties teams up with Tsinghua University to promote sustainable development
Swire Properties and Tsinghua University have renewed their partnership agreement of the Joint Research Centre for Building Energy Efficiency and Sustainability for its fourth term. Since the collaboration was established in 2008, Swire Properties has contributed approximately HKD61 million towards the research project to date, and will continue to invest RMB15 million over the next three years.
One of Swire Properties and Tsinghua University's joint sustainability initiatives is the comprehensive air-conditioning system renovation at Taikoo Li Sanlitun, launched in 2019. As of March 2023, the development has completed renovation of 65% of the public space and 45% of the tenant-occupied space. The remaining renovation is scheduled to complete by the end of 2024, saving a total of 13.4 million kWh of power a year. Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, says Swire Properties' technical teams will continue to push the boundaries of traditional building management and optimise operations by developing new AI technologies, improving indoor air quality control measures and enhancing its energy structures.
