Around 320 million lai see packets are handed out in Hong Kong every Chinese New Year, which is equivalent to the felling of 16,300 trees. In response to this environmental impact, Swire Properties is organising the "Lai See Packet Reuse and Recycling Programme 2023". A total of 27 collection boxes will be set up across Taikoo Place, Cityplaza, Citygate Outlets and other locations. The public can drop off undamaged lai see packets in these collection boxes from 30 January to 27 February 2023. The collected packets will be processed by charity organisations for upcycling purposes.
